1. Keep all of MacTypingTutor's files in the same folder. Use the trial version several times and then register for the full version of program to continue further.
2. To take full advantage of MacTypingTutor's window designs make sure the standard Macintosh font "Comic Sans MS" is installed on your Mac. Actually, you don't need the Comic Sans MS* font just to use MacTypingTutor; the font slightly improves the program's appearance. To save installation time, in case you didn't yet install this standard Mac font, a copy of the font will be sent when you register.
3 MacTypingTutor™ Brief description
Enclosed on the disk sent when you register:
a. MacTypingTutor Program
b. WordBank File. The registered version of WordBank file comes with about 50,000. WordBank generates random prompts in WordDrill.
c. There is also a spelling-checker for FreeTyping; it should not be opened, altered, or worried about.
d. GraphBank File. The registered version comes with more than125 practice paragraphs. GraphBank randomly generates prompt paragraphs in GraphDrill.
e. ErrWdBank File. ErrWdBank holds the words you mistype when in WordDrill. It can be used when you select "ErrorWdBank" in the Options menu. When in use it prompts only words you've previously mistyped in WordDrill. The bank remembers errors from session to session. Erasing ErrWdBank can also be done from the Options menu. Similarly, if you drag the ErrWdBank to the trash, a new, empty ErrWdBank will be created the next time you use WordDrill in TypingTutor. (Be careful to NOT throw away WordBank or GraphBank by mistake; these three files will NOT be automatically replaced). Of course, you can re-install WordBank or GraphBank should you make such a mistake).
4. General usage of MacTypingTutor program:
See the Help Pop-Up menu in the main window of program.
5. Dvorak option (don't read if you just want to type in the regular way)
To use MacTypingTutor for REGULAR typing, you do NOT have to change or do anything! The program comes already set to let you type with your regular standard keyboard.
But, if you choose to use MacTypingTutor for DVORAK-style typing, you must drag the included DI Dvorak file to your System folder (it will ask you if you want it placed in the System File; click 'yes'). Then select the Dvorak keyboard using the Keyboard Control Panel. On newer Macs you can also select keyboard layouts using the flag menu that appears on the right side of the desktop menubar. You can read more about this feature by using the Help Pop-Up menu in MacTypingTutor's main window
You can always switch back to the standard keyboard-layout by using the Keyboard Control Panel to select your regular keyboard (e.g., US keyboard). To use Dvorak typing in MacTypingTutor, select "Use Dvorak Typing" in MacTypingTutor's OPTIONS menu.
If you install the Dvorak layout by dragging it to your System folder, the Dvorak Keyboard-layout will remain in your System file (along with whatever other keyboard-layouts you installed when you installed your System software).

*for those who are wondering what the Comic Sans MS font looks like, an enhanced picture on the main window (the "MacTypingTutor" in large letters) was created with lettering using that font.
